Ape GOAT: Did Tom Brady buy a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT?

One of the greatest athletes of all time may have acquired a non-fungible token from one of the most popular and well-known collections in existence.

What happened: Ready to return to the National Football League for a 23rd season, Tom Brady could now find itself the owner of a Bored Ape Yacht Club.

Travelerswhich is a Bored Ape NFT spin-off project, share the news that Brady was the owner of Bored Ape Yacht Club #3667.

Brady responded by sharing the tweet and saying he hadn’t inhaled, referring to the object found in the monkey’s mouth.

Bored Ape #3667 has the following traits:

  • Army green background (12% of monkeys)
  • Sleeveless Logo Tee (1%)
  • Angry eyes (4%)
  • Dark brown fur (14%)
  • WW2 pilot hat (1%)
  • Bored unshaven mouth (4%)

The monkey ranks as the 4,252nd rarest in the collection of 10,000.

Bored Ape #3,667 was purchased for 133 Ethereum ETH/USD Tuesday before being transferred to the current wallet that holds it.

Why it matters: Brady is one of the most popular players in the NFL and adds to the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s roster of NFT owner celebrities and athletes.

Brady is no stranger to cryptocurrency and the NFT space as he is a spokesperson and investor in FTX and was also the founder of Autographan NFT company that has partnered with ProjectKings Inc DKNG on several sports-related NFTs.

On Monday, Brady was announced as an investor in the SPAC deal to bring hypebeast audience with Iron Spark I ISAA.

Brady also launched the Brand Brady in December as a new clothing company.

It’s unclear if Brady will feature the Ape on his NFL cleats like Colts safety Andrew Sendejo did for a game last year.

Price action: The floor price on Bored Ape Yacht Club is 111 ETH at the time of writing, or around $383,143.

ApeCoin APE/USD is down 1% at $11.85 on Tuesday.
