The administrators of the Royal Naval Club and the Royal Albert Yacht Club on Pembroke Road have asked city council for permission to install a nine-bed facility.
The club has previously rented out the offices on the second floor, but last year plans were submitted for converting the space into apartments.

However, these raised concerns from council road officers about the availability of parking spaces in the area for future residents of the units.
A transportation assessment, commissioned by trustees as part of the new app, said a hotel would be less demanding.
âIn the worst case scenario, it was assumed that hotel guests could generate a demand for up to nine parking spaces on the local road network at any time,â he said.
âThe majority of staff are expected to travel to the site via sustainable modes of travel and given the nature of the development proposals, the demand for staff parking is expected to be minimal. “
The new request will be studied by council planning officers over the next few weeks.
