Through the programs and services offered at the National Sailing Training Center of the Atlantic, Central and Pacific, Sail Canada will be able to identify talent early and offer training and development programs. more systematic training to help athletes progress on the gold medal path to international success.

With the support of the Canadian Institutes of Sport and in collaboration with the provincial sailing associations and major competitive sailing clubs, the National Sailing Training Centers will enable Sail Canada to improve its high performance delivery system and to put in place a nationally reproducible system for athlete identification and development, which will ultimately produce consistent results on the international podium.

To be part of the national sailing training centers, athletes will first be invited to regional talent identification camps, where they will be evaluated. Following these camps, Sail Canada’s High Performance Director, in consultation with national and provincial coaches, will select talented athletes and invite them to participate in national sailing training centers. National Training Centers will offer daily training sessions, regional training camps, and support for performance science and sports medicine programs. Dedicated and specialized solo and doubles coaches will work with these selected athletes. The coaches themselves will have opportunities for continuing professional development to ensure they have the latest coaching skills, technical knowledge and experience.
