Cristiano Ronaldo has re-signed for Manchester United, with the club confirming his second arrival on the transfer deadline day. And, on Tuesday, the Portuguese international trained for the first time with his new teammates. Express Sport will now take a look at four things we noticed about the veteran during his first session at Carrington in 12 years.

Experienced chefs

Ronaldo first came out onto the training ground with Juan Mata.

Considering the Spain international is another ultimate professional, it certainly makes sense.

Mata might not always play for United these days, but the club have kept him because he appreciates his overall contribution.

Ronaldo towered over the former Chelsea star as they stepped out, cutting off an imposing figure.

And the duo may have discussed ways to bring their experience to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s young side.

Supervision of young guns

At various points throughout the session, Ronaldo could be seen training alongside some of United’s young players.

Joe Hugill has been deadly among youngsters over the past year and has been spotted alongside the former Juventus star.

And Hannibal Mejbri has also been involved in the hope that he will be more regularly triggered by Solskjaer this quarter.

While Ronaldo mentored the youngsters, he also trained with former teammate Darren Fletcher.

How United must wish they had a defensive midfielder of the Scottish caliber, having seen him shine during Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure.

Smile away

One of the biggest lessons from Ronaldo’s first session is how happy he looks.

He looked totally relaxed in his surroundings, especially alongside Fred and Diogo Dalot.

Now it will be up to United to ensure that the situation stays that way.

Ronaldo, when he’s happy and shooting full force, is the best player on the planet. Potentially the best ever.

And it would be wise for Solskjaer to stay on his safe side, rather than risk tipping the boat over.

Ronaldo can’t wait to go

Speaking ahead of making his first appearance in training at United, Ronaldo admitted he was delighted to be back.

“Well, as you know I have a fantastic history with this amazing club,” he told club media last week.

“I was there when I was 18 and of course I’m so happy to be back home after 12 years.

“So I’m really happy and looking forward to starting my first game.

“I think it’s the best decision I’ve made. This is fair in my opinion.

“I’ve moved from Juve now to Manchester, it’s a new chapter, I’m so happy and happy, and I want to keep going, make history, try to help Manchester achieve great results, win some trophies and number one of them, to win big things.
