After Astondoa’s intelligent 82-foot AS8, the shipyard has introduced a second model in its top-of-the-range AS range, the AS5.

With its cool, modern interior design and clever exterior details, its aesthetic is apparently inspired by automotive design.

The deck saloon of the new Astondoa AS5 has a rational and spacious right angle layout, with a large settee to starboard of the raised central part, and a U-shaped dinette to port with a folding table.

The galley is aft on the port side, communicating easily with the dinette and versatile cockpit seating, with its corner sofas and paired tables.

Outdoors there is a seating area and sundeck on the foredeck, along with further seating and a further dining area on the flybridge, with the option of a fixed hardtop.

The flip-down bulwarks on either side of the cool glass transom, on the other hand, greatly improve the possibilities on the aft platform.

Accommodation on the lower deck is centered on an owner’s cabin amidships with large rectangular windows and a spacious VIP bathroom in the bow. However, the shipyard is happy to customize and offer a variety of different lower deck configurations.

The Astondoa AS5 also comes with an intriguing array of power options. A pair of 10.8-liter, 725bhp Volvo D11s on shaft drives is exactly the type of setup you would expect on a yacht of this class, but Astondoa offers them with IPS transmissions as well.

And for more power, there’s the 800bhp alternative, courtesy of the slightly more torquey but slightly heavier 12.4-liter inline-six.
