TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – The Idaho Transportation Agency will train candidates this spring to learn how to operate heavy machinery, weld, cement and other skills associated with the transportation industry. building. The Idaho Department of Transportation has announced plans to hold an intensive five-week training course in construction-related areas at three locations in the state: Idaho Falls, Boise and Rathdrum. ITD said the need for skilled construction has never been greater with a growing state economy. Selected candidates will learn to operate heavy equipment, cement masonry, welding and metalwork, and earn a free commercial driver’s license. To be eligible, applicants must be 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license, be able to pass a drug screen and a Department of Transportation medical exam. Applicants do not need prior experience in the field. The program is funded by the federal government.
