The Wetherby club headed west on Saturday afternoon to scenic Grimwith Reservoir, home to the seventh try of the Norman Crooks Championship.

Only thirty-seven competitors registered to complete a course of ten sections of four laps and watch the dinghies descend onto the tank.

Dry conditions gave low scores in all four classes. Sherco ‘twins Phil Hammond and Phil Hardisty dominated the Green course followed by Vertigo rider Chris Laws. Needless to say, Fellbeck farmer Norman Shepherd pulled off his bantam trick with clean driving.

Danny Gamble won the difficult course class well ahead of Elliott Laws and Anthony Ayrton, leaving his daughter Lucy to pilot his TRS in the Youth category, where Mason Carter took first place with a meteoric race.

Norman Shepherd made the clean ride on the easy road where Pontefract regular Ian Brogden and Les Ashby sidecar passenger ride on a pad. Les had his boot lowered in the first section in the first round. The Club works again in September

26 at North Close Farm, Kirkby Malzeard from 10:30 am.
