The 100th annual West Side Nut Club Fall Festival kicks off on October 4, and for the third year in a row, the successful half-pot fundraiser will be a part of it.
First introduced at the 2019, or 99th, edition of the popular street festival on the west side of Evansville, the Nut Club half-pot took off like wildfire. Ask any Club member and they’ll tell you they never expected the total to go over the million mark. Maybe audiences would get used to the idea a few years later, but doing it in the first year was mind blowing.
The fundraiser was so well received that the Club welcomed it again in 2020 despite the cancellation of the entire fall festival due to the COVID pandemic. Not only did he succeed again despite selling tickets in the empty parking lot opposite Mead Johnson on the corner of Lloyd and St. Joe over three weekends, but he also topped the first year’s total with 1 Tickets sold for $ 391,375, nearly $ 200,000 more than the previous year. With the return of the Fall Festival this year, I imagine a new record will be set again.
This year’s tickets will only be available at drop-in kiosks along Franklin Street between St. Joe and Wabash Avenue of Flags. Stands will no longer be set up in the parking lot in front of Mead Johnson, as this land will be used by the Reitz High School Men’s Club to collect money from visitors looking for a place to park.
Tickets will be one for $ 5, three for $ 10, 20 for $ 20, 50 for $ 40 and for the very first time, 150 for $ 100.
Kiosks will be open for ticket sales from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday during the Fall Festival week. The winner will be announced on the Benjamin & Anna Bosse Foundation stage at the intersection of 12th and Franklin.
Half of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the winning ticket holder (last year’s winner pocketed nearly $ 700,000), while the Nut Club will keep the other half for distribution to groups and organizations at. non-profit of our community.
