Wally launches a new era of yachting for wallypower

Officially previewed at the Venice Boat Show (May 28 to June 5) with upcoming stops in Saint Tropez (June 12 to 15), Barcelona (June 17 to 19) and Ibiza (June 21 to 27), the brand new wallypower58 is the first wallypower model launched by Ferretti Group since it purchased Wally, an acquisition announced at Boot Dusseldorf in January 2019.

The wallypower58 takes design cues from the recent wallytender48 and wallytender43, such as the angular profile, wraparound fender and single chine hull, but is also reminiscent of the stealth wallypower118 launched in 2003.

Stefano de Vivo, Managing Director of Wally, said: “At Wally, we often say that our yachts are 20 years ahead of their time and that is indeed the reality, as the new wallypower58 honors the aesthetics of the revolutionary wallypower118. , some two decades later. was presented to the world.

“Of course, we have also incorporated the many technical and practical innovations we have developed since 2003, ensuring that the wallypower58 leads the way for yachts in its class for many years to come.”

New features include ‘Magic Portholes’, one on each side, with 4K resolution cameras connected to dual screens port and starboard in the saloon, creating a wide exterior view without having any portholes.

The wallypower58 retains many of the brand’s renowned superstructure features, including curved pillarless glass, wide and deep side walkways connecting bow and stern, and extensive shaded guest areas open to the environment while providing protection against sun, wind and water. Pillarless windows provide panoramic views that improve boating safety by eliminating blind spots.

The adjustable cockpit top features an electric hatch to allow for increased ventilation when required, while the covered outside area can be air-conditioned to provide relief from hotter conditions at anchor or in port. When cruising in colder climates, the cockpit can be fully enclosed by glass insulation for protection against the cold.

The large aft deck sundeck comes standard, with lounging space for four adults looking across the stern alongside four seated adults facing forward. There is also a toy storage unit located below and accessed by two gullwing doors. This aft deck area also benefits from the optional shade provided by an innovative electric awning.

Folding bulwark “wings” as standard increase entertaining space with a spectacular 25m² open aft deck space and 12m² of covered, air-conditioned open cockpit space.

At the rear the wallypower58 can be optionally specified with Wally’s innovative hyd

raucous platform, which descends into the water to serve a dual purpose. First, the platform can drop low enough underwater to quickly and easily launch or retrieve a jetski or dinghy down to 3.25m. Second, when submerged just below the surface, the platform creates a foot in the water area for customers to enjoy a fun and safe experience in the water.

As also seen in all wallytender models, the wallypower58 is fitted with a hydraulic gangway at the stern which doubles as a swim ladder, providing access to the water whether the hydraulic platform is used for the jetski or the storage of the annex.

A flexible layout

In the upper cockpit there is generous seating for 12-16 guests on the two side benches and on the forward facing part of the sundeck. To starboard, a large table opens to create a seated dining area while allowing unimpeded passage from the port cabin area.

The galley is split into two sections, allowing for independent configuration of spaces from a long list of options including fridges, ice makers, hobs and storage.

On the lower deck, where natural light floods in from the ceiling, the flexibility continues. The wallypower58 comes standard with a full beam ‘double saloon’ for guests and owner, with a day head incorporating a separate shower to port. Natural lighting is provided by a large suspended glass panel integrated into the main deck. Forward, the master cabin has a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a large stand-alone shower.

With the ‘flexi-guest’ layout, a guest cabin is located on the port side amidships with the saloon on the starboard side. Providing comfortable overnight accommodation for up to four adult guests, the second cabin in this configuration has direct access to the day head, while there is also overhead access via a hatch in the galley floor to the -above.

This dual-access, dual-use layout is convenient for owner-operators who may only occasionally hire crew for longer voyages, peak periods, charters, or deliveries, as it eliminates any loss of space for guests to a dedicated crew rest area.

If the owner’s planned cruising schedule requires a full-time professional crew on board, the wallypower58 can also be fitted out with a comfortable, fixed single-crew berth with en-suite amidships instead of the cabin. guests. This configuration is ideal for charter boats and large chase yachts, as it provides suitable fixed crew accommodation without interfering with daytime guest spaces, including a dedicated guest toilet off the lower deck saloon. .

As with previous models in the range, Wally has equipped the wallypower58 with the Volvo IPS system. The intuitive system includes joystick maneuvering, dynamic positioning and Volvo’s assisted docking software.

On the new model, Wally opted for a smaller block triple IPS configuration instead of the larger conventional twin unit, to give the yacht a shallower draft, better distributed power-to-weight ratio and redundancy. increased. As a result, owners benefit from a more balanced range of power options, choosing between IPS700 and IPS800 triple units, both on the D8 engine block. Both power profiles provide a long range cruising speed of over 30 knots.

The wallypower58 features the brand’s usual ultra-deep V-hull, with Wally prioritizing a fast cruising pace in all environments, rather than higher speeds in a more limited range of sea conditions. The result is that owners can cruise at 35 knots in waves that would slow other yachts considerably.

Luca Bassani, founder and chief designer of Wally, said: “As on the first wallypower, the wallypower58 presents pure lines dominated by the double chines of the hull and the air intakes. Her bow meets the water with a smooth, swooping line that extends all the way to the stern. The wallypower58 is for those who appreciate essential, simple and pure lines, and who understand how they really want to use a yacht.
