The sailing club open day went well

OVER 60 visitors enjoyed perfect sunny and windy conditions on Lochmaben’s Castle Loch on Sunday for the Annandale Sailing Club’s annual open day.

It was the perfect introduction to dinghy sailing for many who were experiencing the sport for the first time.

Club members prepared refreshments and homemade pastries in the clubhouse, and many people enjoyed the sun and the view from the new terrace.

In the boat park, visitors could see many classes of dinghies cruising Castle Loch before taking to the water themselves in the company of experienced sailors from the club.

Paddle boarding was a first-time feature, with club members sharing their boards and keeping an eye out for those trying the popular activity for the first time.

Along with new faces, former members and old friends came to say hello throughout the afternoon and Commodore Elaine Ross said it was nice to share the club with the whole community: “We we’re really interested in getting people active, outdoors, improving their sense of well-being, and just loving the beautiful environment we have here.
