Toronto, ON (September 2, 2021) – On opening day of the Canada Cup, defenseman Royal Canadian Yacht Club is halfway to victory after winning all three races against challenger Youngstown Yacht Club (Youngstown, NY) . Being played in the Melges IC37, the first team with 6 points wins the Canada Cup.

The match racing challenge was first contested in 1896 when the Royal Canadian Yacht Club and Lincoln Park Yacht Club (Chicago, IL) met for the inaugural race in Toledo, Ohio.

After 125 years of racing, which saw 13 wins for the United States and 11 wins for Canada, the 25th edition is a rematch of the previous edition in 2016 when Canada beat the United States in 8 meters.
