Jamie O’Hara revealed that Robbie Keane once dropped Edgar Davids with a single punch

Davids, 48, has quickly become a fan favorite at White Hart Lane but it wasn’t all smooth sailing in his early days at the club.

According to O’Hara, the 1995 Champions League winner arrived at Spurs thinking he was “the main man”, but quickly discovered who the top dog in the dressing room really was.

Speaking on talkSPORT last year, he said: “I’m telling you who had a little on him – Robbie Keane.

“I remember a story with him and Edgar Davids and I hope he doesn’t mind me saying that.

“We were in training and Edgar Davids came over from Inter Milan and he thought he was the bee’s knees.

“He thought he was the main guy and man and everything, but everyone realized that Robbie Keane was the main guy at Tottenham at that point.

“I remember he gave it to Keano in training and they had a barney, and I think he tried to walk up to Robbie Keane and say something – and Keano just tripped it, bosh!

“He just left, bang – one punch. Faded away.

“Then Davids just got up and left – and that was it. He came the next day like, ‘Hello, Robbie…’

“He knew – nobody played with Keano. He had that little Irish something about him that if he changed, he’d kick you out right away.

Despite early tensions behind the scenes, the 2005/06 season proved to be a fine campaign for Spurs, but they eventually finished in fifth place after losing to West Ham in their final game.
