About MGM Boats
MGM Boats is one of Ireland’s leading boat brokers now operating internationally as well as throughout Ireland. MGM Boats was founded in 1997 by brothers Martin and Gerry Salmon who previously worked as a carpenter, joiner and fiberglass laminator in the 1980s. Martin evolved into retail boat sales in the late 1980s and Gerry was a service manager in the 1990s. From these many years of experience, MGM Boats was founded in 1997. It started as a service, maintenance and repair company based in Malahide, County Dublin.
The business grew in 1998 when the Aquador dealership was acquired. Starting as they wanted to continue, in 2001 MGM became distributor for Jeanneau Motorboats and Yachts and also opened its second office in Belfast. MGM had started to create what would be an internationally acclaimed brokerage firm.
In 2003 MGM Boats moved to Dun Laoghaire Harbor, Co. Dublin. The large office space and courtyard expanded after-sales service and paved the way for MGM to acquire the Sunseeker dealership in Ireland in 2003.
From there MGM developed its brokerage listings and in 2009 opened its office in Hamble, UK. This has led MGM to be present for many years at all the major UK boat shows, and to increase their presence and announcements every year.
The success of MGM’s brokerage listings has spread internationally, leading in 2012 to the opening of 2 new offices in the Mediterranean – in Villamoura, Portugal and Mallorca, Spain. The now international brand and team over the years have received numerous awards for their entrepreneurial spirit, customer service and international presence, including the Sunseeker Distributor of the Year award in 2007, 2009 and 2011.
It also led to the opening of a new Irish office in Kinsale, County Cork, increasing their presence in Ireland as well as overseas.
