Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe knows his side face a big task to stay in the Premier League this season. But welcomed the ambition of the new owners.
Following the imminent arrival of Bruno Guimaraes, Newcastle’s spending in January is set to eclipse £70million with days to go, and Howe was quick to praise the club owners’ ambition.
According to the Daily Mail, the former Bournemouth manager backed the Saudi owners’ huge ambition for the club but warned that time will be the key factor in realizing such ambitions.
He said: “There’s huge ambition at the club. Over time those (ambitions) will come true, I’m sure – in terms of everything that’s in the eyes and minds of people around the club. .
Newcastle’s first window under the Saudi-backed Public Investment Fund, which owns an 80% stake in the club, was anything but smooth.
The search for a new centre-back has so far eluded the Magpies, but the acquisitions of defensive midfielder Guimaraes and international footballers Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood have improved the squad in positions needing a bit of ‘tlc’ .
During the team’s visit to Jeddah during the international break, the city which hosted a controversial Formula 1 Grand Prix last month, members of the PIF spoke to the team, with Howe also praising the inspiration and motivation he thinks the conference will provide. .
