The 39.08 meter Benetti motor yacht El Carancommissioned by legendary singer-songwriter David Bowie, was offered for sale by Giulio Riggio at Fraser’s office in Palma.

Commissioned by the late musician in 1974, she was built in steel and aluminum by the Italian shipyard Benetti to the RINA class and delivered in 1977. El Caran has been parked inside and out by the yard and has received several refits, most recently in 2020 where she benefited from a paint job and a brand new teak deck.

Her classic interior is finished in mahogany and she accommodates 12 guests in six cabins, including a full-beam master suite on the main deck. Below there is a full beam VIP cabin and three sumptuous twin cabins. All cabins have TV screens, DVD players and en-suite bathrooms with bathtubs. Seven crew members find accommodation in five cabins.

Telltale signs of Bowie’s artistic influence can be seen in some interior features, including the surreal painting hanging above the dining table and the retro-style furniture in the guest cabins.

The main deck dining area of ​​this yacht for sale is open to the main salon and features a bright and airy sky lounge and a large sundeck. Al fresco dining is for 10 people on the aft deck and deck deck behind the sky lounge.

Her exterior spaces are home to plenty of socializing areas, as well as a sunbathing area and built-in seating on the foredeck with shelter provided by a Bimini top. The upper deck offers additional seating as well as panoramic ocean views.

She is maintained in RINA commercial class and has successfully chartered in the Mediterranean for many summers, with substantial repeat business. Two 824 hp MTU engines give her a range of 3,800 nautical miles and a top speed of 12 knots.
