The Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade, one of Annapolis’s flagship events for almost 40 years, is back this holiday season!

The parade lights up the Annapolis waterfront with up to forty boats of all shapes and sizes, both motor and sail, brilliantly decorated with thousands of lights and piloted by happy revelers. This festive maritime event is great fun for the whole family. The skippers participate for fun and circle the waterfront in two fleets: one circling past Eastport, the City Dock and the Naval Academy seawall, the other circling along Spa Creek, at the inside the bridge.

This year, the Eastport Yacht Club Parade of Lights will be held on Saturday, December 11 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Cancellation only by high winds. Updates will be posted on the website.

The parade is a great opportunity to show off a boat or showcase a club. There will again be a “People’s Choice Award” selected on the Facebook Lights Parade. Anyone can participate (EYC members and non-members) and Eastport Yacht Club provides pre-parade safety briefings. A decoration seminar for all those who wish to participate, this year or future years, will be held on Friday, October 8 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Eastport Yacht Club.

Liquefied Creative Annapolis

Over 50 volunteers work year round to produce this event, a gift to the City of Annapolis from the Eastport Yacht Club. Twenty to thirty thousand people line the waterfront each year to witness this sparkling holiday parade. Over the past few years, Annapolis and the EYC Parade of Lights have received national attention on Saturday’s “CBS This Morning” show and nominations to participate in the USA Today poll of the “10 Best Holiday Parades” . In 2016, the parade placed number ONE!

People can take Parade of Lights memorabilia home by purchasing posters and other commemorative items. These will be available through the Eastport Yacht Club.

Information on the Parade of Lights is available online at www.eastportyc.org/lights-parade. This site also provides information about the Parade of Lights, including information about parade registrants, parade maps, parking information, and viewing sites.
