Club captain Andrew Joy said: “The club have had a great start to 2022 and the results we have achieved in South Yorkshire show the versatility of our teams, with new combinations performing in difficult conditions. .”

The Junior 17 women’s quadruple of Kate Revill, Kay Southwood, Millie Lyons and Maisie Maltby, who won her six-minute event, beat a City of Sheffield Rowing Club crew.

Kate Revill and Kay Southwood completed the Junior Women’s victories by winning the Junior Sculls Double 16 by nine minutes.

Emma Cox and Emily Jackson competed in their first-ever rowing event – the Junior 15 Women’s Double Sculls – and placed second behind a strong team from Bradford.

The new combination of Hari Koli and Niall Smith put in a solid performance to take third place in the Masters Double Sculls.

The junior men’s team rounded out the day’s wins.

The crew of James Gleed, Charles Russell, Will Lees and Edward McDermott had a close race against a long-serving Doncaster crew, taking a 20 second victory.

James Gleed and Charles Russell then jumped into the Double Scull to claim victory in the Junior 16 event.

Jack Norsworthy, who raced single sculls for the first time, came away with a solid second place in the 17-year-old junior single scull.

Norsworthy then teamed up with Ben Newton (York University Boat Club) to take third place in the Open Double Sculls.

The club will have a weekend away from racing ahead of the Head of the Trent River Race in Nottingham on February 27.
