Billionaire’s ‘smart yacht’ with beach club can be controlled with your smartphone

You’ve heard of remote control drones, but prepare for the future: remote control yachts are here.

A custom multi-million pound Horizon Yacht FD90 is one of the first in the world to offer ‘smart home’ style features, allowing you to control heating, lighting, temperature and entertainment systems.

The luxury yacht features a huge deck with a convertible beach club that makes it easy for the wealthy to hit the beach on their mates’ private islands and open a fully equipped bar.

First launched in 2017, the latest edition of the FD yacht series is 90 feet long and has floor-to-ceiling windows as well as four “state rooms” (aka “bedrooms”).

No IKEA here either, as the whole thing is outfitted with expensive interiors that include brass, “smart glass,” and even convertible beds.

It can be fully customized and best of all it can travel on the high seas so no need to deal with the UK’s infamous CRT (Canal and River Trust), although there may be pirates.

There’s no set price on the FD90 as it’s a custom boat, but Horizon yachts can fetch over £11m used.

She can also sleep four crew members, so you can take your minions with you wherever you sail.

Although you might not need it thanks to the ability to control the boat with an iPad or iPhone.

The Horizon is nowhere near as expensive as the largest yacht in the world. The Azzam, which is owned by the ruler of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is believed to have cost more than $600m (£445m).

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos also has an expensive taste in boats. In 2018, Bezos ordered a $500 million superyacht that can apparently cross the Atlantic without burning fossil fuels.

If you can’t afford a superyacht yourself, don’t be discouraged. The open sea is very lonely, and you could have more fun for less money on a swan pedal boat with a loved one.

Of course, if you have the money, you might as well invest in a spaceship instead. Sea travel belongs to the last century.
